Brian Tracy: 10-Step Goal Method

BT1Is goal setting a skill you have not quite mastered yet?

Are you frustrated because you fall short and fail to achieve the goals you set for yourself?

Well, read on because I am going to share with you a goal setting method that will help you achieve any goal you set for yourself.

I first learned the 10-Goal Method from the world renowned business speaker, Brian Tracy when the two of us worked on a previous network marketing project together. Brian Tracy is also Chairman and CEO of Brian Tracy International

The Recipe For Goal Setting

Now, it is a well known fact that we become what we think of most of the time and that successful people think about their goals, most of the time.

Very briefly, this is the recipe for goal setting:

  • Decide exactly what you want
  • Write it down
  • Set a deadline
  • Make a list of everything you need to do achieve your goal(s)
  • Organise the list into a plan
  • Take action
  • Do something everyday to get move yourself closer to achieving your goal(s)

So, now that we have the recipe for goal setting, we need to actually write our goals down. And  is where the 10-goal method comes in.

So, in summary, write your goals down using the 3 P’s:

Present Tense: Your subconscious mind is a very special computer that can only be accessed using a particular type of language – the language of NOW. So, instead of saying:

I will be earning $5000/month by such and such a date

say;

I earn $5000/month by (date)

Instead of saying:

I will be driving (a brand new whatever car you want) by (date)

say;

I drive (a brand new whatever car you want) by (date)

Write your goals down as if you have already achieved them and that they are a reality. This is the type of command your subsconcious mind understands and gets to work on straight away.

Positive: Your subconscious mind cannot process negative language.

For example, instead of saying “I will quit smoking by such and such a date”, say:

I am a non-smoker by such and such a date.

Personal: Always write your goals starting with word “I”. You are the only person in the universe who can use the word “I” with reference to yourself. When you use the word “I” something powerful happens. Your subconscious mind kicks into action and automatically knows that a special goal “is coming down from head office”, as Brian Tracy puts it.

Now, it’s been proven that the shorter and more concise your goals are, the quicker they are achieved and become realing.  So, when you write your goals downs, don’t write a paragraph but keep them to a short and concise sentence such as:

I earn $5000 per month by such and such a date

I drive a brand new Mercedes by such and such a date

Now, something wonderful and powerful has just happened by you writing your goals down in the:

  • Present Tense
  • Positive
  • Personal

sense. You have just moved into the top 3% of adults in our society. You see, only 3% of adults have ever written down 10 goals in the Present Tense, Positive and Personal sense, ever.

So, on a piece of paper put “Goals” at the top with today’s date. Write 10 goals you would like to achieve in the next 12 months in the Present Tense, Positive and Personal sense and make sure your goals end with the words “by (and the date you want to achieve your goal)”, so that they are all time dated.

Now put your piece away so you cannot see your goals. When you come to review your goals 12 months later you will be astonished because you will have accomplished 8 out of the 10 goals in fantastic fashion.

You’ll also be a little sad because you will wish you had written down more and bigger goals. So, go ahead and use the 10-Step Goal Method today and start achieving the goals you really want to achieve.

The Most Powerful Question In Network Marketing

So, I recently watched a great video by Eric Worre where he shared a question that he called the most powerful question in network marketing, as it is the most profitable question he has used over the years in his network marketing career. This question has made him the most money and it struck a chord because it is so simple and far too good not to share!

The question is based around just 4 words, “If I…….would you?”

Why does this question work so well? It works so well because it is reciprocal. If you were to ask someone, straight off the bat, to go to a opportunity presentation with you or try one of your products as a customer, chances are they would say no. I mean, why would they? Why would they go with you to a presentation? Why would they try your product? What’s in it for them?

Now, if you phrased the question differently by saying “If I…would you?”, they would probably say yes because there is now something in it for them, there is a benefit for them. Below are just a few examples to get you started:

If I……

  • …..could show you how to retire 10 years early at full pay….would you take a look at the business I am doing?
  • …..could show you, a full-time mum, how you could earn more part-time than your husband does full-time…..would you take a look at the business I am doing?
  • …..could show you, a university student, how you could earn more part-time than your teachers do full-time…..would you take a look at the business I am doing?
  • …..invited you along to a presentation on Wed night……would you come?
  • …..could show you how to lower your electricity bill…..would you try our service and be one of customers?
  • …..could show you how to lose a few pounds by drinking coffee…..would you try our coffee and be one our customers?
  • …..could show you how to keep your skin looking 10 years younger in only 60 seconds a day…..would you try our skin care product and be one of our customers?

You get the idea!! I am sure you can come up with some great examples of your own to use when talking to your prospects about the service or product you market. By asking questions using the “If I……would you?” format, you are stacking the odds in your favour of having your prospects say “yes” to you.

MLM Recruiting Secrets: How To Answer The Question “What Do You Do?”

Do you verbally vomit all over them and give them your company presentation in 60 seconds flat?

If so, I am going to share with you 4 words that will help you maintain your POSTURE and at the same time, create curiosity within the person you are talking to.

I Just Found Out

So, no matter how long you have been involved with network marketing, when someone asks you, “What do you do?”, don’t have verbal diarrhea, instead, maintain your posture and say, “I just found out…….”.

These 4 words attack the curiosity program in the subconscious mind and gets your prospect asking, “Really, how does that work?”, or words to that effect!

Here are some examples that you can away with you now and start using today:

I just found out…..

  • …..how to get a pay rise without talking to my boss
  • …..how to work 2 weeks every month and get paid for 4
  • …..how university students can earn more part-time than their teachers do full-time
  • …..how full-time mums can stay at home on full pay
  • …..how to retire 10 years early at full pay
  • …..how secretaries can make more money part-time than their boss full-time

If the network marketing company you are involved with has a car program, you could say:

“I just found out how to get my car paid for”.

If you have a weight loss product, you could say, “I just found out…..

  • …..how I can lose a few pounds and get paid for it”
  • …..how I can lose weight by drinking coffee and get paid for it”
  • …..how I can lose weight by replacing one of my meals with a delicious shake and get paid for it”

If you’re in a utilities company, you could say, “I just found out…..

  • …..how I can lower my electricity bill and get paid for it”
  • …..how I can lower my mobile phone bill and get paid for it”

If you have a skin care product, you could say, “I just found out…..

  • …..how we can make our skin look 10 years younger in only 60 seconds a day”

Just so that you are aware, I have purposefully not mentioned the product and niche that I promote as I do not wish to be seen as pitching you!

The possibilities are endless and you can easily make up your own examples that you can use. So, next time you’re asked, “What do you do?”, reply using “I just found out……..” and you can tailor the second part of the sentence either to the person you’re talking to or around the product or service you promote.

  • I don’t want to stay as I am working 50, 60, 70 hours/week having no time for my family or my hobbies
  • I don’t want to stay as I am, where do I sign up!!??

You get the idea!

Close #2:

Let’s sit down and sort this out.

Eight words to close your prospects

So, when it comes to closing your prospect after your presentation, watch the video below to learn how 8 words can help you close more prospects and sponsor more people into your business:

You see, when you use the sentence, “So, what’s going to be easier for you?”, it attacks multiple programs in your prospect’s subconscious mind. And as a professional network marketer, that is exactly where you want to be talking to because it is the subconscious part of the mind that makes DECISIONS. The reason as to why this is, is a whole new blog post and video. For now, take it from me that the subconscious mind is where decisions are made. Now, your prospect is thinking:

  • (s)he’s got my interests at heart
  • (s)he’s interested in me
  • (s)he’s giving me choices

Let’s put it all together….

“So, what’s going to be easier for you?

Life as it is, having sleepless nights, working all the overtime you can get just to barely cover your bills, or to join our team, develop an extra $1500 a month so you don’t have to work any more overtime, get your bills covered and sleep easier at night? What would be easier for you?”

“So, what’s going to be easier for you?

Life as it is, working 60 hours a week to pay the bills and not be able to afford to take your family out, or to join our team, make an extra $1500 a month, get your bills covered and still have enough disposable income to take your family out every now and again and have some fun and quality family time? What would be easier for you?”

Nobody in their right mind is going to say, “Well actually, I don’t mind having sleepless nights worrying about money…” And by some unfortunate miracle, if a prospect DOES turn round and say something like this, then you will know instantly that this prospect is NOT the sort of person you want in your team!
