Firstly, I’m a family man with 2 lovely daughters and live in the East Midlands county of Northamptonshire.
I grew up in Wimbledon, SW London, a part of London I loved and still do as it has large expanses of greenery such as Wimbledon Common, Wimbledon Park and Richmond Park a few minutes away.
My Claims To Fame:
Growing up, I had a fairly eventful childhood with a couple of claims to fame, for want of a better term, lol!!
At the of four, I was on Rainbow, which was a popular childrens program in the UK throughout the 70’s. The filming crew spent a days filming at our primary school and I was featured in the program doing some painting with a girl in my class. That’s me in the picture below!!
At the age of seven, my mother was asked by one of the mothers of the children she child minded, if I would model some clothes for Woman’s Own, which I did. that was an experience I can still remember to this day!!
My modelling pictures provided and still provide my wife and daughters great entertainment value as you can probably imagine! Imagine my surprise when my wife told me that she bought that very edition of Woman’s Own for the knitting pattern all those years ago. What are the chances of her buying the very edition that her future husband featured in!!!
At the age of sixteen, in my last year at school, I was asked (for the third year in a row), if I wanted to be a ball-boy at the 1987 Wimbledon Tennis Championships. I said yes and glad I did as I was fortunate enough to be chosen to be on Centre Court for the whole tournament. Due to the position of the TV camera on Centre Court, it meant that I was always on camera in the top right hand corner of the TV screen.
It was an eventful tournament and I was involved in some funny incidents which were obviously captured on camera and as a result, were featured on a sports quiz show called Question of Sport in the “what happened next” section of the show!!
If you’re a tennis fan, then you’ll remember that 1987 was the year Pat Cash won the Men’s tournament and climbed into the crowd to his family. It was two fantastic weeks in my life that I will never forget. What an experience!
